Lucille VanSlyke, 86, died August 17, 2018 in St Francis Hospital in Wichata, KS. Lucille Pearl VanSlyke was born to John and Apollonia (Hensen) VanSlyke on April 25, 1932 in Cleveland, ND. After completing high school, she enlisted in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on November 23, 1953. While residing in ElDorado, KS, she worked as a waitress, head cook, production and as a telephone operator until she moved to Grand Forks, ND and then Fargo, ND in January of 1975 where she worked as a telephone operator and in the engineering department of the phone company until she retired in 1995. She moved to Kansas in 2009 to live with her daughter Karen Saltkill. She is survived by her children: Karen Saltkill, Abilene, KS; Nancy Pelkey, Moorhead, MN; James Webb, Fargo, ND; Judy Ostlund, Fort Wayne, IN; and Bonnie Webb, Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a niece; and two nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Charles and Elmer VanSlyke; sister Leona Fendrich; and son Ronald Webb. Visitation will be from 5-7:30 PM with a Vigil at 7:30, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center. The Funeral service will be 10:30 AM with visitation one hour before the funeral on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catho West with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery North.
