Daniel John Stoltman, age 47, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2017, in Fargo. Daniel was born to Gerald and Adeline (Paschke) Stoltman on June 18, 1970, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He attended public school in Minto, North Dakota, graduating in 1989. During high school Daniel was an avid runner in track, once holding the 2-mile record only to have it broken by his younger brothers. Daniel enlisted in the United States Navy in 1989. He was stationed aboard the USS Midway and later the USS Long Beach, serving during the Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm). During his service he received several medals and awards including the National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Battle “E” ribbon, amongst others. Following Daniel’s honorable discharge from the United States Navy in 1993, he worked various jobs in construction and as an electrical technician at Motor Coach Industries in Pembina, North Dakota, for many years. During his free time, Daniel enjoyed watching movies and was a strategic blackjack player. Daniel is survived by his brother, Duane (Thief River Falls, MN), sister Darlene Stremick (Grand Forks, ND), sister Doris (Robert) Degenstein (Mankato, MN) and brother Dale (Elizabeth) Stoltman (Mankato, MN). Daniel also leaves behind maternal grandmother, Alice Paschke (Grafton, ND), along with nephews Wayde Stoltman, Andrew Stoltman, Aiden Stoltman and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, brother Darrell, his paternal grandparents, and his maternal grandfather. A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 10:00 am at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Minto, ND, with burial to follow.
