Doreen Luke

Doreen Luke, 62, of Fargo died Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Essentia Health. Doreen was born in Mayville, ND, the daughter of Tilman W. Beck and Joyce L. (Carlson) Beck. Doreen was raised in Mayville and graduated from May-Port High School in 1972. Upon graduation she moved to Fargo and worked at Mr. Don’s State College of Beauty. After that Doreen and her mother Joyce owned and operated a restaurant in Portland, ND called DJ’s. Doreen’s brother, Dennis Beck managed a restaurant in Rapid City, SD and wanted Doreen to come down and work for him, as he knew she was instrumental in all things related to running a successful business. While in Rapid City, she was a director of food service for the National College of Business. While in Rapid City she met a guy named Verne Luke, and thought he was a pretty good catch. With both sets of parents, a brother and sister-in-law, they were married in Reno, NV. Doreen and Verne moved back to Fargo, as her father wasn’t in the best of health. Her expertise in the food service business found her managing several stores throughout the Fargo area including: Wise Buy Foods, Holiday Plus, and Trollwood Family Restaurant. Finally she had a job that didn’t require food, NHD Manufactured Home Sales, where she managed two parks in Grand Forks and two in Fargo. Doreen and her husband owned and operated E/Z Manufactured Home Sales. Doreen loved to play bingo and trips to the ocean, where Verne’s family resides in Oregon. She was also a big animal lover, having cats and dogs all of her life. She is survived by her husband Verne; her mother Joyce Beck; her brothers Dennis (Rowena) Beck and Dale (Linda) Beck; and a sister Charlene Beck of Forest River, ND; several aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father and both sets of grandparents. She will be missed but now she is in the Hands of Jesus. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM Monday April 17, 2017 with a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo.
