Elmer David Akerberg, age 81, Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Mr. Akerberg was born April 25, 1924 in Plaza, ND where he grew up and attended school. He also attended the University of North Dakota, the University of Minnesota, and North Carolina State College. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Elmer and his brother, William, ran Akerberg Bros. Radio Sales and Service in Stanley, ND. With others, he formed a corporation, Akerberg and Beckler Electric Co. Inc., an electrical contracting business. They operated this business for several years in Bowman, ND. On December 8, 1949 he married Caroline Hora in Rapid City, SD. He was employed by the Radio Corporation of America as an electronics engineer in 1952, and worked on many defense and commercial projects world wide for approximately 15 years. On February 10, 1955 he married Kimi Maeda in Yokohoma, Japan. She died in 1984 and was cremated and buried in Japan. From 1966 to 1992 he was on contract with various intelligence agencies of the United States government as a senior design engineer. During these years, he lived in Japan but worked world wide. Elmer is survived by 2 sisters: Astrid Gates, Grand Forks, ND and Carol Ann Monson, Sioux Falls, SD. No services will be held.
