Galen D. Briese, 67, Erie, North Dakota passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at his home. Galen was born August 12, 1952 in Jamestown, North Dakota to Thomas and Myhra (Howes) Briese. He graduated from Tappen High School in 1970. He attended mechanics school and farmed for several years south of Tappen, ND before moving to Pettibone, ND in 1990. He went back to school and earned his Associate’s Degree in Science from Bismarck State and moved to Langdon, ND where he worked for the Soil Conservation Service as a water quality agent. He later moved to Fargo where he worked for the North Dakota State Seed Department. He retired in 2018. He was active in 4H for decades where he was most recently honored by the North Dakota Winter Show for his volunteerism. He absolutely loved to go hunting and fishing and he handmade custom rods for his many friends and family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews and was known for the stories he could tell and will be missed by those he leaves behind. He is survived by his children, Lee (Penny) Briese, Edgeley, ND, William Briese, Erie, ND; 6 grandchildren, Brayton (Sarah) Fox, Tristan Fox, William Fox, Caetlin (Steven) May, Nathan Briese, Megan Monge; 2 great-grandchildren, Astrid May and Orren May; brother, Torrey Briese, Tappen, ND; sister, Karla (Greg) Frier, Medina, ND.
