Irene M. Link, 100, Fargo passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Sanford Palliative Care Unit. Irene was born May 1, 1917 to Albert and Ann (Kilzer) Gion on the family farm near Regent, ND. Irene attended Cherry Butte School, graduating from the 8th grade. Irene and John Link were married on September 30, 1947 at St. Michael’s Church rural Regent, ND. They settled on a farm rural Hebron, ND and built a life and beautiful family with love and faith. Irene was a loving Mother and homemaker her entire life. She gave of herself unselfishly to others her whole life. She was always there in times of need. Her favorite pastime was needle point and crocheting. Irene and John were members of St. Anne’s Church in Hebron, ND and later Queen of Peace in Dickinson, ND where they retired in September of 1976. In 2007, Irene moved to Fargo and resided at Riverview Place until her death. She loved it there. Irene is survived by 4 children, James (Terry), Fargo, ND, Thomas, Colorado Springs, CO, Bonnie (Ray) Steier, Blaine, MN and Kenneth (Donna), The Villages, FL. She is survived by 8 grandchildren, Jerica (Kevin) Malinowski, Fargo, ND, Justin (Elizabeth) Link, Denver, CO, Chad (Shirley) Link, Colorado Springs, CO, Timothy (Sheree) Steier, Maple Grove, MN, Kyle (Sarah) Steier, Scottsdale, AZ, Kirsten (Jake) Dehne, Brainerd, MN, and Cory (Shannon) Link, St. Cloud, MN, and 8 great-grandchildren, Ethan and Hanna Malinowski, Fargo, ND, Sophie and Addison Link, Denver, CO, Amber and Abby Dehne, Brainerd, MN and Ezra and Vada Link, St. Cloud, MN. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, Albert and Anna Gion, brothers, Walter, Edward, Alois, Robert and her sister, Josephine Gion, Jennifer and Jeremy Link. She is survived by 1 brother, Richard Gion, Ormand Beach, FL. Funeral Mass: 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Riverview Place Chapel, Fargo with a rosary starting at 12:00 P.M. Burial: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

  8. TO THE FAMILY OF JOHN & IRENE LINK. JUST HAPPENED TO HEAR TODAYTHAT IRENE PASSED AWAY, I AM SO SORRY. JOHN & IRENE WERE SUCH A LOVELY COUPLE. I WORKED AT QUEEN OF PEACE CHURCH FOR 30 YEARS, I HAD MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO VISIT WITH JOHN AND IRENE.
    JOHN WAS ESPECIALLY A GIFT TO THE PARISH, HE KEPT THE PLACE IN TIP TOP SHAPE AND IRENE WAS ALWAYS SO SUPPORTIVE. I HAVE WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF BOTH OF THEM. MAY THEY REST IN PEACE. MY SYMPATHY AND PRAYERS TO YOU ALL.
