Jerry Joseph Johnson, age 56, Walcott, ND, died Friday January 20, 2017, in Sanford Health surrounded by his family. Jerry Johnson was born in Moorhead, MN on August 11, 1960 to Harold and Elaine Johnson. He joined the Army National Guard .  He was united in marriage to Jean Johnson on September 27, 1980 in Moorhead, MN. Over the years Jerry was employed by Advance Structures, 4 Rivers Construction, and Superior, Inc. He also owned and operated his own semi-truck business. Jerry loved cars, fishing, hunting, spending time with his family and friends (especially in his garage). During the last couple of years he was unable to work, so he took up building model cars and painting. Most of all Jerry thoroughly enjoyed being with his grandkids. Jerry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jean, Walcott, ND, children, Joe (Bridget) Overson, West Fargo, ND, Kristin (Chris) Vezner, West Fargo, Amy Johnson, Walcott, ND; grandchildren, Braedon Blondeau, Julia Overson, Dylan Vezner, Natalie Vezner; brothers, Wayne Johnson, Fargo, ND, Dale (Linda) Johnson, Loveland, CO, Randy (Julie) Johnson, Fargo, ND; sisters, Linda (Robert) Rockwell, Fargo, ND, Connie (Richard) Plum, Mapleton, ND, Janice (Chad) Lundeen, Argyle, MN, Joleen (Jason) Ignaszewski, Stephen, MN, Sheila (Jay Stein) Glyndon, MN; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Elaine, and good friend Tom Hebl. The family would like to express a special thank you to Sanford Health and the Roger Maris Cancer Center.

    So sorry for your loss. “Jer Bear” will be missed. Jerry was a great, kind and funny man. We have many good memories that will be cherished. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

I am so happy to have had the pleasure of getting to know such a kind human being while I was around in Walcott.   12. We were so sad when we heard about Jerry’s passing. Wish I had been well enough to attend the memorial. The video tribute was wonderful. I like to think he’s hanging out on his awesome boat with beer in hand, waiting for everyone else to get to the party! ‘Damn the topedoes’ as Connie would say! We all miss you Jerry! Jean, Joey, Kristen, Amy if you need anything let us know. Our thoughts are with you!
