Leona Boisjolie

Leona E. Boisjolie, 91 of Fargo passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Edgewood Assisted Living.
Leona was born April 15, 1929 in Hillsboro, North Dakota to Conrad and Clara (Fleischer) Griesbach. She was the youngest of 10 children and was raised on the family farm. She graduated from Bohnsack Township School in Traill County. She graduated from New York Hair Dressing Academy in Fargo and was a part owner of Fashion Beauty Shop.
She married David Boisjolie on January 16, 1953 and spent most of their life together in Fargo. David passed away January 11, 2015.
Leona was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo. She enjoyed going camping with her family and fishing in Minnesota and Canada. She also loved to sew and quilt and was active in her bowling league. She like to play cards, especially bridge and enjoyed putting together puzzles at their lake on Big Cormorant Lake.
Leona was a caring, loving mom and grandma who was very resourceful and will be missed by those she leaves behind.
Leona is survived by her daughter: Debra Boisjolie, Eden Prairie, MN; sons: Craig (Ann) Boisjolie, Fargo, ND; Roger (Nelma) Boisjolie, Houston, TX, Grandchildren: Heather (Alex) Kerian +1; Haley (Devon) Wahl and David Boisjolie and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David John Boisjolie, 6 brothers, Verner, Lloyd, Robert, Harold, Kenneth and George Griesbach and 3 sisters, Erna Borud, Esther Kellerman and her twin sister, Lorna Lawyer.
Due to COVID attendance restrictions, a private live streamed graveside service can be viewed on Boulger Funeral Home’s website starting at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 2, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to YWCA Shelter Fargo, 4 Luv of Dog Rescue, Fargo and/or Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo.

The video tribute took me back to soooo many fond memories of the Kellermans with the Boisjolie family. Leona was a special aunt that always made us feel at home in Fargo and at the lake. Those family gatherings at the Boisjolie’s were always looked forward to and never disappointed. Laughter filled the house and of course cards for everyone. Uncles around the poker table in the basement and us kids playing royal rummy, both high stake games. Loved playing the slot machine especially because we had a key and pulled dimes from the back to play never losing any of our own money. I had a standing invite for Sunday night supper from Leona while at NDSU because the dinner center was closed, best meal of the week. I should have gone more often. Debbie, Butch and Roger you had a special mom that I know you will miss much. My sympathies.
We lived next to her and her husband In the Brandwood condos. I visited her many times at Edgewood and even played cards with her as she was in my bridge club. I was going to visit her this spring after we left Florida but because of all the restriction had not been there. Their dog was so cute when they lived in Brandywood. She was so nice and fun to be with. She will be missed. love, Jan Baker
So many fond memories of Uncle Dave and Aunt Leona! Griesbach Christmas was always a highlight along with going to the lake for the Fourth! Her homemade ice cream was always a treat. A very special lady for sure. Love, hugs and prayers to Debbie, Butch, Roger and families.

Aunt Leona was one of a kind and how could you not remember that smile. We always looked forward to the Griesbach Christmas party and the 4th of July. I think back of going to the house and watching Days of Our Life with Leona when I was going to school in Fargo. Debbie, Butch and Roger our prayers are with you !!
Auntie Leona boy will I miss you. I remember that for years you smile whenever I called you “Auntie Elona”. I think it was finally in middle school I remember you teaching me at the lakes how to say your name without switching the name around. I sooooo loved playing bingo with you last summer! The lunches we would have, the diet soda we could drink etc… the hundreds of memories I have. I love you!
Aunt Leona was truly a beautiful person…I remember the Griesbach Christmas Parties and the 4th of July Celebrations at the lake. She had so much fun to give and plenty of food for friends, family and everyone. We were truly blessed to have her in our lives.

Leona was a special lady. She and I had many nice phone chats between Tennessee and Fargo over the past 20 years. Rest in Peace, Leona.
Our sympathy to you and your family at the death of Leona. We always had such a good visit when I brought Christmas cookies to her from the Grace Lutheran Church LWML. She loved to tell me news of her family, especially the grandchildren. She was so proud of all of you! Keeping your family in prayer!

Our trips to North Dakota were never complete until we arrived at the Boisjolie house. Her laugh and smile always made me feel welcome. Forever in my memories.
