Lori passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at her home in Cummings, ND at the age of 60. She was surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Lori Docken was born on March 10, 1956, the daughter of Lawrence and Harriet (Carlson) Docken in Hallock, MN. She grew up in Northcote, MN and graduated from Hallock in 1974. Lori was united in marriage to John Joy on February 28, 1976 and two children were born to that union – Apryl and Kathy. They made their home in Memphis, TN. On April 26, 1986 Lori was married to Charles Fitzpatrick in Hallock, MN and three children were born to that union – Oni, Michael and Melanie. Together they made their home and raised their family in Cummings, ND since 1989. Throughout the years Lori was known for working at the American Crystal Sugar Beet Factory in Hillsboro. Her favorite job over the years was the time she spent at the Hillsboro High School as a Cook. She loved all of her kids at the school and enjoyed every day there. Lori had most recently worked for JR Simplot as a lab tech. Lori was a cancer survivor since her first diagnosis with Thyroid cancer in 1997. Against great odds, her cancer returned in December of 2015 and Lori has fought a courageous battle since that time. She faced each day with a positive attitude and enjoyed life to the fullest. Lori is survived by her children – Apryl (JC) Conley of Pierre, SD; Kathy (Mike) Degelder of Grand Forks, ND; Oni (Sean) Banks of Minot, ND; Michael Fitzpatrick of Grand Forks, ND; and Melanie Lee of Minot, ND; her husband, Charles Fitzpatrick of Shelly, MN; her grandchildren – Abby Degelder, Autumn Degelder, Brock Degelder, Gavyn Fitzpatrick, June Banks, and Leo Fitzpatrick. Also surviving is her mother, Harriet Docken of Hallock, MN; her brother, Thomas (Laurie) Docken of Pembina, ND; and a nephew, Bryce Docken. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Westley Banks; and her father, Lawrence Docken. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.   3. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Lori was a kind caring person who will be missed by many. I am sorry I am unable to make to the service.
