LuWayne was born 2-23-1957 to Albert and Lorene (Traxel) Seidel. He graduated from Halliday high School, Police and Sheriff Training Academy, and Minot State College. He was a Police Officer with the city Of Minot 1977 to 1984. Lu returned to Halliday in 1984 to purchase the family grocery store. He sold the store in 1991 and moved to Northern California, where he managed a grocery store in Sacramento. From 1992 to 2006, Lu was the Northern California Territory Manger for the Conwood Company, based out of Memphis, Tennessee. This work took him around the Bay Area, the Northern Coast, and the Wine Country. He loved driving through all the beautiful places. On Labor Day 1990, Lu met Mary(Hamers). She would follow him to California and they were married 10-7-2005 in Lake Tahoe, California. Mary moved to West Fargo 10-2005 to start a new job, and Lu would follow 1-2006. Lu worked as a courier for Fleet Street Courier until he retired 3-2021. Lu was a kind and gentle man with an infectious smile and laugh. He was very loyal to his many friends and loved his and Mary’s family very much. Lu loved to work in the yard, keeping the grass green and trim, and planting many beautiful flowers that were admired by the neighbors. He loved watching sports, including the Minnesota Vikings, college football and basketball, and NASCAR. Lu is survived by his best friend and wife Mary, sister LaVonne(Mike), niece Margo(Brad), brothers-in-law Robert(A.C.), Ron(Linda), sisters-in-law Terri(Buzz), Tammy, Casey(Greg), Nikki(Kevin), nephews Darin(Brandi), Doug(Jen), Justin(Jackie), Michael(Brit), Blaine(Kayelee), Shane(Kayla), Scott(Miranda), Brendan, Trevor, Chance, and niece Taryn. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Lu was an amazing boss and a good friend. Will always remember the funny birthday cards he sent. Heaven has received another angel.

  2. Deepest sympathy to Mary, LaVonne, Mike and Margo.
LuWayne was a boss that expected us to do our job but also made working for him fun like allowing us to taste test the bulk Christmas candy.

  3. Lu was an honorable man with a smile and sense of humor. While he was a driver with Fleet Street we could always count on him to be upbeat, reliable and a wonderful representative for our company. His customers enjoyed conversing with him and respected him not just as a service provider but as a friend. Lu will be greatly missed by all.

  4. I will always remember LuWayne for his smile and the boisterous laugh he always had and playing trumpets in the HHS band
Gone too soon, Sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the family RIP LuWayne

  5. Lu was a great guy and good friend.
I have many great memories of our time on the Minot PD together.
    So sorry for his passing.

  6. Lu was my employee and was the Territory Manager for the Vallejo Territory. This included all of Northern California to the Oregon border. For all of his years he remained my best employee. He never made a math error in all of those years. He was one of the greatest individuals I have ever met. I thought of him often after he returned to ND from CA. We had the chance to get together twice. Once at Theodore Roosevelt National Park and once at his beautiful home. My thoughts and prayers to Mary and his many friends and family.

  7. Lu was taken from us too early.
He was a kind, fun loving person.
We did share many memories when in college
and working together on the Minot PD.
    Sorry for your loss.

  8. So sorry for your loss may god be with you all. It’s been a long time since I have seen Luwayne went to school together and had a lot of good times together He will be missed rip

  9. Condolences to all blood and blue families. You were an asset to the Minot Police Dept. and was missed very much by the PD family when you left. Thanks for your service. RIP.

  10. When we lived in Minot, ND, 1977-1984, LuWayne was a Minot Policeman. I played in a band and he knew I was gone most weekends. He also knew we didn’t live in the best part of town. He would park his squad car in our driveway and have coffee with Marilyn when I was gone sending a message to the neighbors, “Don’t mess with this house!” We never had an incident and he made Marilyn feel safe. He impacted so many people on his journey though this life. May he Rest In Peace and know he made a difference! God Bless you!

  11. Lu was absolutely the nicest man to walk this earth. He was the greatest husband to Mary and the most cheerful guy ever!! He was a blessing to all of us that were lucky enough to know him❤️ He is going to be missed by so many and it breaks my heart that God called him home so early!! We never have enough time with those we love. Let the angels rejoice, God is good🙏

  12. Our deepest sympathy to the whole family. Lu was a amazing person with a great personality. We could always count on him to have a smile and great us all with a joke or two. He will be truly missed by us here at Western State Bank.

  13. Lu was our (Paul and Linda Lou) best friend! We loved him so much he was so fun and was loved by all! Most positive guy. When we adopted our boys Kiel and Christopher Lu became Uncle Lu. Lu was bigger then life as he was always so fun, laughing, joking and enjoyed our football times with friends. Cheer on those Vikings! As police officers together Paul and Lu were always together enjoying life. Then he met Mary and what a perfect match. We were so happy when Mary decided to join Lu in California. Then wedded blis! They have both been wonderful friends. Lu will be missed sincerely but for me I will always remember sharing the sterling wine stories! Lu is finally released from the pain and is now surely with his best friend Paulie!

  14. I sure will miss him. A very kind man who enjoyed his Miller Lites and his Vikings. Enjoyed working with him at Conwood. My condolences,
    Scott Roux, Boulder City NV.

  15. My deepest condolences to Mary and the rest of the family. Lu had a ready smile and an infectious laugh. Such a super guy, taken way too soon. He will be missed by all who knew him.
