Otto John Flam, 96, Fargo, North Dakota, died Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo. Otto, known as "Bud," was born November 14, 1906, in Fingal, North Dakota, the son of Joseph and Mary Flam. He grew up in Fingal, attended school there, and learned the meat business from his father, who owned a meat market in Fingal. Otto worked all of his adult life managing meat departments for National Tea, Piggly Wiggly, and Valley Market. Otto was united in marriage to Dorothy Norby in Benson, Minnesota in 1941. They lived in Clara City, Minnesota; Brookings, South Dakota; Fargo, North Dakota; River Falls, Wisconsin; and Kansas City, Missouri. They returned to Fargo in 1957 and lived in their home until September 2001, when they entered Bethany Homes. Otto was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Jerry (Mary) of Jamestown, North Dakota, Jim of Chandler, Arizona; one daughter, Cheryl of Gilbert, Arizona; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2003 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo
