Rosalie Lohr

Rosalie “Rose” L. Lohr, 85, passed away surrounded by family, March 19, 2019 at Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo, ND. Rose was born March 26, 1933 to Eugene and Louiselle (Sauvageau) Trottier in Horace, ND, the youngest of 11 children. She grew up by St. Benedict and attended school at St. Joseph’s Academy school in St. Benedict. After moving to Fargo, she worked at the Powers Hotel and Piggly Wiggly. In 1959, she met Dale Lohr at the Crystal Ball Room in Fargo and they were married October 17, 1959 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fargo. They lived on the Lohr family farm near Gardner, ND until Dale’s passing in 1997, at which time she moved to Fargo. In the early years she was a stay at home mom. Over the years Rose worked as a café owner in Gardner until becoming a full time “lunch lady” at Cass Valley North High School in Argusville, ND. She retired in 1995. Faith and family were very important to her. Rose was an active member of St. Williams Catholic Church for 38 years and later became a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Fargo. She was a member of the Homemakers Club, Birthday Club, and Legion Auxiliary in Gardner. Rose cherished attending grandchildren’s many activities and family gatherings. Her hobbies included cooking, canning, bowling, camping, and sewing. Rose is survived by her daughters, Laurie (John) Nicholson of West Fargo, Brenda (Troy) Aswege of West Fargo, Carrie (Todd) Gianakos of West Fargo, Patti (Jamie) Preston of Harwood; grandchildren, Allison Nicholson, Andrew Nicholson, Sam Nicholson, Jayden Nicholson, Katelyn Aswege, Nathan Aswege, Kristin Aswege, Lindsey (Jason) Peyton, Kiah Gianakos, Jordan Gianakos, Makenzie Preston, and Brady Preston; sister, Alida Utke; sister in law, Eleanor Trottier; and many nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; parents; brothers, Patrick, Lionel, Alderic, Augustin, Joseph, Sylvio, and Roland Trottier; and sisters, Loretta Schmidt and Lillian Cossette.
