Russ passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Manley Care Center in Manley, IA at the age of 61. Russell Glen Flieth was born on January 7, 1956, the son of Robert and Ruth (Peterson) Flieth in Hillsboro, ND. He grew up in Hillsboro and was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Russ graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1974 with a perfect attendance record of which he was very proud. During his younger years he was active in Boy Scouts and was a paperboy in Hillsboro. He played football throughout high school and was chosen for the very first North Dakota Shriners football game in 1974 where he played for the North Team.  After graduation from high school, Russ traveled with his brother, Ryan, in a band where he worked the soundboard. Russ was married to Julie Beck in October of 1980 and they later divorced. Russ was united in marriage to Patsy Suhr on June 27, 1998 and they made their home in Council Bluffs, IA, where he owned and operated Russ’ Upholstery. Due to health concerns he had recently made his home at the Manley Care Center since September of 2016. Russ will be remembered for his great sense of humor and jokester personality. He always called each one of his siblings on their birthday and sang “Happy Birthday” to them as well as “Silent Night” each Christmas. Russ is survived by his wife, Patsy of Council Bluffs, IA; his step daughter, Joanna (Jerry) Butler of Crystal Lake, MO; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Haley; his mother, Ruth Siegert of Hillsboro, ND; his siblings – Richard (Nettie) Flieth of Hillsboro; Roger (Joni) Flieth of Mason City, IA; Betsy (Doug) Tate of Grandin, ND; Barb (Dave) Ferguson of West Fargo, ND; Kari (Jim) Anderson of Pensacola, FL; Kurt Siegert of Fargo, ND; and Jason (Corrie) Siegert of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews. He & his wife Julie at the time were a great help to me as we made our transition from Fargo life to life in Iowa. I remember his smile more than anything. I am sorry for the loss of a very nice man.

  14. My deepest sympathy to the Flieth family. I would love to be at the service but I have my husband in the hospital. God be with all of you.

I am afraid I don’t know your last name Dawn. I am always looking for past info on my brothers. If you are on facebook, you can message me if you like.
