Sandra Jane Leum, 66, Detroit Lakes MN, passed away suddenly Monday, November 29, 2021, at her residence in Detroit Lakes, MN. Sandra was born June 14, 1955, in Hillsboro, ND to Selma and James Leum. She was baptized at Gran Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. She was educated and graduated from Hillsboro Public School in 1973. She attended college at NDSSS and graduated in 1975 with a Legal Secretary degree. She worked as a government employee for several years before going to work at Berg-Juelson Law Firm for 8 years which became Ohnstad-Twitchell, where she worked for another 30 ½ years. She retired in 2017. She was an EMT-I for Hillsboro Ambulance for over 14 years. She was an organ player at St. Olaf Lutheran Church after her great aunt died and until it closed in 1995. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Sandra loved to travel and took trips all over the country with her sister and her mother in their motorhome. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed being on a bowling league over the years and was enjoying retirement in Detroit Lakes with her dogs. Sandra is survived by her sister Sherryl of Detroit Lakes MN, aunt, Marilyn Ydstie of Grand Forks ND, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation: 9-10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Wildeman-Boulger Funeral Home, Hillsboro, ND. Funeral: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Wildeman-Boulger Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Interment: St. Olaf Cemetery, Taft, ND. Memorials can be given to St. Olaf Cemetery Fund or Hillsboro Ambulance.

    I was very sad to see Sandra’s passing. She bowled on my team in Detroit Lakes during the 2019-2020 season. We thoroughly enjoyed her as a teammate and missed her when she decided not to bowl. My sympathies to you and your family!

    My thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time! I am so sorry for your great loss of Sandy! I have so many great memories with her …whether it be 4-H at your house with your mom being our leader or when we did our confirmation classes together at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church or playing flute next to each other in the band for many years..I was lucky enough to reconnect with Sandy when she worked for John Juelson!!
