Virginia Ludwig

virginia ludwig
Virginia Iverson Ludwig, 91, of Riverview Place in Fargo passed away peacefully at Eventide Fargo on June 26, 2017. Virginia was born in Kenmare, ND to Robert and Selma Johnson. They lived in Fonda and Greene before moving to Sutton ND in 1934. She graduated from Sutton High School in 1943 and attended Valley City Teachers College. She taught school briefly in Binford and Jamestown, ND before her marriage to Norris Iverson in 1948 in Mabel Lutheran Church in Sutton. Virginia and Norris farmed and lived on their farm in the Binford area until he passed away in December 1991. In 1992, Virginia moved to Cooperstown, ND. She moved to Riverview Retirement Place in Fargo in 2004. Virginia was an active member of Mabel Lutheran Church in Sutton, Trinity Lutheran in Cooperstown, and Atonement Lutheran in Fargo. She married Michael Ludwig at Riverview Place in Fargo on July 27, 2012. Virginia (Ginny) lived life fully. She always wanted to try new things-- from parasailing over the Caribbean, to hiking in Peru, to going to Honduras as a “Mission Observer”, to being in plays, to being a lay preacher. She said “I guess my gift is 'getting people together’”-- as she gathered the “Merry Widows” in Cooperstown and the “B ladies” at Riverview. But gathering her family was most important and she went many places with her children and grandchildren. Virginia is survived by her husband Michael Ludwig, her sons Jarl (Judy) of Fargo and Louis (Margaret) of Radnor, Ohio, grandchildren Alicia, Jennifer, Rachel, Megan, Kirsten, Heather, Aaron, nine great grandchildren, her brother Robert (Gloria) of Sutton and daughter-in-law, Dianne, Minneapolis. Her son Gregory preceded her in death in December 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 30, 2017 at Atonement Lutheran Church, Fargo with visitation starting at 10:00 A.M.

  1. I am so sorry to hear of Virginia’s passing. She was such a lovely person and always had plenty of smiles & hugs for me & my family. My favorite time with her was when I took her coat shopping! She loved trying on all the coats she could find. When we found the one she wanted she looked at me and said, “I think I need gloves and a purse to match!”
Prayers to her family for forgiveness, understanding and peace. She will be greatly missed. Rest peacefully Ginny and know that Grandpa loved you with all his heart. ❤️
