Bill was born January 20, 1936 at St John’s Hospital, Fargo, ND to Albert & Lorraine (Diemert) Elliott. He was the first born of eleven children. The family lived in Georgia for a few years, while Albert was in the service. They moved back to ND where Bill graduated in 1954 from Galesburg High School. Following High School, he attended NDSU for a year before joining the army in 1955, serving in the Honor Guard Company and as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. He returned to NDSU, graduating in 1961. On November 24, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart Evelyn Amb. Bill taught High School Vocational Agriculture and Science in Bowman, ND, before pursuing a master’s degree at University of Nevada in Reno. He worked as a Feed Rep at O&M in Carrington, ND and ran the printing press at Fargo Rubber Stamp. His passion was over the road trucking which gave him autonomy and adventure for over 40 years. Many people talk about his stellar card playing which was his pastime in retirement. Bridge was his favorite game and if you could play, he instantly made you a lifelong friend. The grandkids loved playing cards with “Papa Bill” and enjoyed his crazy but true stories. He also was an avid reader, one book a day was not unusual. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn; children, Linda (David) Bird, Blue Springs, MO, Lora (Tim Hicks) Karaim, Lees Summit, MO, Darin (Christie) Elliott, Fargo, ND; grandchildren Vashti (Jared) Kern, Tara Karaim (friend Matt Medley), Savanna (Jake) Scarbo, Alex Elliott (friend Allie Cahoy), Cheyenne Bird (fiancé Tanner Richardson), Branson Elliott; great grandson, Jacob David Scarbo (born 4/22/21); siblings, Albert (Betty) Elliott Jr., Mike (Patty) Elliott, Pat (Mary Ellen) Elliott, Jenice (Larry) Boulger, Robert (Carol) Elliott, George (Mary) Elliott; In-laws, Terry Elliott, Mike Kozojed, Inez (Leon) Nelson, Delores (Roger Barnard) Ludwig, Janice Larson (friend Max Hatch), numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. 5. Letter to Bill….thank you for always being thoughtful asking about my family and grandchildren. Thanks for being a second dad to my Christie❣️ The best time spending with you was in Phoenix this past February. Your mind was amazing! you could read, join in conversation and tuned in on a pinochle game. I loved how you and Evelyn Yin and Yang! Your bridge competitive against Evelyn And keeping journal score! Wonder how many times you let your sweetheart win😉.

  7. Thinking of you, Cousin Bill. You were much older than I and so much about you I never knew…hauling bales for your dad and brothers was a real experience as a young boy. Sure glad my dad came to get me after 3 weeks of slavery, before I ran away! And, later on in life, I could really have used some coaching on bridge when I got out of the Marine Corp. My condolences to you and all the families. Blessings to all of you.
