William "Bill" Davis

William “Bill” D. Davis, 65, of Fargo, ND, passed away Saturday, March 25th, 2017 in his sleep surrounded by family in his home. William David Davis was born November 2nd, 1951 in Golden Valley, MN to William Lewis Davis and Clarice Ellen Davis. He graduated Moorhead Senior High School in 1971, and later graduated Moorhead State University Moorhead in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a minor in Business Administration. After completion of his degree, Bill was employed with Radio Shack and performed managerial operations for various stores in Fargo, ND and Minneapolis, MN until 1981. After five years of moving with the company, Bill decided to come back to the Fargo-Moorhead area and settle down. He was later employed by FM Vending and Sam’s Club in Fargo, ND until his retirement. On October 21st 1989, Bill married Marie Nelson. Loving the community of Fargo, they continued to live in Fargo, ND and planned to raise a family. In 1992, the couple welcomed their first child, Brian William Davis, into the world, and a year later would have their second son, Brandon Lee Davis, in 1993. Bill was a regular attendant of First Assembly of God church in Fargo, ND and rarely ever missed a Sunday service. Earlier in his life, Bill was taught how to fly airplanes by his father who was an avid flyer. At the young age of 16 years old, he made the decision to take the exam to get his pilot’s license. Of course, he passed with flying colors and became one of the youngest pilots registered in the state of North Dakota in 1967. The story was later published in the Fargo Forum. Regarding his passions, they were far from few. Everyone that knew him was probably familiar with his love of collecting anything Pac-Man or Coca-Cola. In his twenties, Bill got his joy from playing one of the many vintage cocktail arcade games in his basement. Later, when his two sons became old enough, camping was a common family event in the summer time and enjoyed spending quality time with his family, while also getting away from the stresses of work. Those closest to Bill best describe him as being a true family man. Following his retirement, he was able to devote even more time to watching his children grow and develop into young adults. As a father, he couldn’t have been more proud of them and continued to remind them whenever the opportunity presented itself. He will be dearly missed by those who survived him, his loving wife, Marie; sons Brian and Brandon of Fargo, ND; brother Ken (Linda) of Alexandria, MN; sister Chris (Nate) of Redwood Falls, MN; niece Amy (Jon) of Lakeville, MN; nephews Jeff (Oliva) and Kyle of Minneapolis, MN along with Cory (Alicia) of Rochester, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 31, 2017 at First Assembly of God Church, Fargo with Pastor Bob Ona officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, ND.

  15. I just learned of Williams passing. I am so saddened by the loss. He was a remarkable man. I worked with him at Sams for about 13 months before I moved to Albuquerque, NM. We always talked about him coming down to see the balloon fiesta. Now he can enjoy it from above. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family and friends. Although I only new him for a short time, it feels like a lifetime I enjoyed his company.
