Bonnie Jean (Grenier) Wold, 81, of Fargo, North Dakota died unexpectedly Monday, July 6, 2026.

Born on June 28, 1945, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, Bonnie was the daughter of Chester and Norma (Gunness) Grenier. She was raised in Kent, Minnesota, where she grew up alongside her family. Bonnie attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Breckenridge through the eighth grade before continuing her education at Breckenridge High School, graduating with the Class of 1963.

While growing up in Kent she spent significant time with her paternal grandmother, Alice Grenier, on the family farm just 5 miles north of Kent. She often rode her bicycle out to the farm during the summer months. One of her fondest childhood experiences was spending time with her family at their cottage on McDonald Lake, Dent MN.

Bonnie began working part-time as a laboratory assistant at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge when she was 16. While working at St. Francis, she was mentored by Sr. Ardis Cloutier, a life-long friend, who encouraged her to pursue a vocation as a medical laboratory technologist (MLT). After several years working as an assistant, she obtained her MLT certification through Alexandria Vo-Tech Institute in 1973. She continued working as an MLT at St. Francis Hospital until 1981. She then worked for Dakota Clinic as an MLT at the main facility in Fargo before transferring to a satellite clinic in Moorhead. As a life-long learner, she completed a personal goal of obtaining her associate’s degree from Moorhead State. She continued to work for Dakota Clinic until her retirement in 2007.

She married Thomas (Tom) Wold on August 12,1964, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Kent, MN and settled on the Wold farm, rural Colfax where they lived for 54 years and raised two boys, Chad and Lynn. She was the cornerstone of her family’s world being a loving farm wife and mother, all the while balancing it with her career as an MLT. She so loved working in her garden and flower beds making the farmyard and home welcoming and peaceful. Additionally, she was the area “Avon Lady” in her community for a handful of years and worked as a census worker during the 1980 census.

She was the unwavering partner to Tom as they navigated the joys and challenges of life. Following a traumatic brain injury suffered by Tom, they moved to Fargo in 2018 allowing Bonnie to focus 100% of her time and energy caring for her beloved husband.

She was a life-long member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and active volunteer. Serving on parish council, countless committees, and as a eucharistic minister.

Bonnie’s biggest enjoyment in life was her family. Her parents both came from large families. Her Aunts, Uncles and cousins were always a central part of her life growing up and all through her adult life. She was a devoted daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother and grandmother. She executed all those roles with purpose, passion and conviction to help and serve others, often putting her own needs to the side.

Her role as a mother and grandmother were certainly the pinnacle of all her life’s roles. The love, care and guidance she provided for her boys was second to none. She made every family celebration and holiday special with her wonderful entertaining, baking and cooking skills. Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa’s house was always the best.

Bonnie is survived by her son Lynn (Beth) Wold of Onawa, IA; daughter-in-law Kathy Wold of Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Ethan (Ellen) Wold of Ann Arbor, MI; Landon Wold of Sioux City, IA; Parker (Cheyenne) Wold, of Council Bluffs, IA; Carson Sitzmann of Kingsley, IA; McKenna Sitzmann of Iowa City, IA. She is also survived by her brother Kelly (Sandy) Grenier of Rochert, MN; sister-in-law Alice (Don) Such of Fargo, ND; brother in-law Robert (Lois) Wold of Fargo along with many nephews, nieces, cousins and all those who call her friend.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Thomas Wold, her son Chad Thomas Wold, her grandson Logan Robert Wold her parents Chester and Norma Grenier, and her sister, Laurie (Grenier) Halgren.

In lieu of flowers or plants the family requests memorials be given to St. Mary’s Catholic School, Breckenridge, MN or Richland #44 School Foundation, Colfax, ND.
