  13. Wayne and I worked together for nearly 10 years. He was typically my last client at the end of my 40-hour work week.
Fridays with Wayne were something I always Looked forward to.
Just last Friday, I told Wayne how much I loved hanging out with him on Fridays. If I was ever in a bad mood, he’d tell me to get over it, and before long we’d be joking around and having a good time for the rest of the shift.

I started working with Wayne when I was only 19 years old, and over the years he became a great role model for me in so many ways. I admired how he overcame the things he struggled with and how incredibly hard he worked. Wayne could work 40 hours a week and have no problem picking up another 16 hours somewhere else if he needed extra money to support his family. His work ethic was something I always respected about him.
More than anything, I admired the kind of father Wayne was. He cared so much about his daughter, Em, he always wanted the absolute best for her. It didn’t matter if money was tight, Wayne was going to do everything he could to make sure Em had what she needed. You could tell how much she meant to him.
I can’t believe you’re gone, Wayne. It just doesn’t seem real. After nearly 10 years of Fridays together, it’s going to be hard knowing you won’t be there anymore. I’m going to miss you a ton man. I’m grateful for all the laughs, all the conversations, and everything I learned from you over the years. Rest easy, Wayne.

  14. Somehow, Wayne and I always got on the elevator at the same time. He always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. Rest in peace Wayne. I will keep your daughter and family in my prayers.

  15. It’s been great reading the memories others have shared, and here are some of mine: I first met my friend Wayne about 3 years ago when my office at NDSU was moved to one of the buildings he took care of. Work-wise, he was very dedicated to doing a good job, and a constant friendly and helpful presence in our building that will be greatly missed. In fact, just a few days before he passed, I saw him take time to direct a lost new student to her classroom! But on the personal side, I will always remember the interesting conversations we had about sports, local events, winter weather, and NDSU or Fargo history. I especially enjoyed whenever he brought his dog into the office for a visit after his work shift was done, or having him just show me “surveillance” video from his apartment when he was checking on the dog or to see what the cats were getting into! We often walked over to the Memorial Union together in the morning to grab a Mountain Dew from the Herd shop, and he seemed to know and have a fun exchange with everyone we passed on the way! He was an excellent source for campus rumors (but you didn’t hear that from me!) My deep condolences to all his family and friends, and be assured of my continued prayers for all of you. Requiescat in pace.

  16. I really enjoyed working with you during the Redhawks games and I loved our conversations I never thought our most recent conversation would be our last my prayers go out to your family fly high Wayne heaven just gained an angel

  17. Wayne! The news of your gaining your wings was shocking! I just ran into you and had a great conversation. Was great catching up with. So sorry to hear of your passing. You were a wonderful person with a big heart. Glad I had the opportunity to meet you and work with you. We had lots of laughs together. Will miss you, if you need anything Emily let me know! Did not know you too well but your dad was a great guy, and had an enormous heart. Sorry for your loss.
