Gladys ‘Krein’ Hilsendeger, 82, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021. Gladys was born on April 28, 1938 to David and Elizabeth Krein in Wing, ND. Gladys was united in marriage to John Hilsendeger on October 29, 1966 in Napoleon, ND. She enjoyed being outside, often going for walks many times a day and working in her garden. The love of her faith brought her to church every Sunday at 7:30 AM. Gladys was an active member at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She loved going to Red Hawks games, however her favorite baseball team was the Los Angeles Dodgers. Gladys was an outstanding baker/cook. She loved to bake bread, cookies, and pies in addition to canning. Her favorite music was country, but also enjoyed dancing to polka and waltz with John. Gladys worked at Woolworth restaurant in the downtown area when she first moved to Fargo. This is where she met the love of her life John, and after only 6 months of knowing each other they decided to get engaged. A month later, they were married. She also worked at NDSU dining hall until she retired. Gladys is survived by her husband, John; children, Duane “Dewey” (Kori) of Fargo, Shelia (James) Gades of Fargo; siblings, Arlie Krein, Millie (Terry) Miller, Hilda (Jordell) Brose, David Krein Jr, Jim Krein. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Samantha Hope & Jesse Aaron Hilsendeger; sister, Arlene M (Krein) Wilson; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Krein.

I will remember her from her younger years when she worked for Dalbec’s and when she moved to Fargo picking her up at Sterling’s Gray Hound Bus station was always glad to see her come but sad to see her go. Thanks for the many birthday and Christmas gifts over the years, much appreciated even though I will not be there,I will be there in spirit.Good Bless you and your family.   4. John and Dewey, so sorry to see Gladys pass away. I remember many good times as a child, spending weeks at the house. She will be missed by many. Thoughts and prayers for all the lives that she touched.
