Gregory Allen Peterson was born to Edgard and Marcella (Paul) Peterson on January 7, 1957 in Ada, MN. He died at Sanford Health in Fargo on Saturday, April 27, 2019 after sustaining a traumatic brain injury due to a fall. His growing up years were in rural Twin Valley and then in Barnesville where he graduated from high school. His technical training was completed at Moorhead Vocational Technical School in auto mechanics. Most of Greg’s career was spent working in telecommunications at health systems in Fargo. At the time of his death he was working for Sanford Health System.
Greg was united in marriage to Judith McMaines-Seminary and daughters Anne and Laura on March 18, 1995. Judy and Greg had just celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary with a memorable trip to North Carolina. Greg had many loves in his life including his family, friends, good food, travel, trips to Mexico, time at the lake, classic cars, yard work, gardening, entertaining others and his life as Bubba to his six amazing grandchildren whom he loved deeply. Greg was a good man who was always willing to lend a helping hand and his commitment to helping others extended far and wide.
He is survived by his mother, Marcella Peterson; wife, Judy; daughters, Anne (Lucas) Stram and Laura (Christopher) Carlson; grandchildren, Oliver, Amelia and Eden Stram and Carter, Quinn, and Sylas Carlson; sister, Deb (Dwight) Olson; niece, Lisa (Chris) Dykes; great-nephews, Lochlan and Colm Dykes; nephew, Zach (Meghan) Olson; brothers-in-law, Mike McMaines, Jeff (Terry) McMaines, Jim (Jasel) McMaines; sister-in-law, Mary (Joe) Zander; uncles, Allan (Lorraine) Peterson and George (Peg) Paul; aunt, Carol (Pat) Mulchay; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edgard Peterson; uncles and aunts, Carmen (Leona) Peterson, Ray (Sue) Paul, Donald (Bernice) Christensen, Terry Paul, and Joanne Terway; cousins, Chad Terway and Bruce Christensen; and mother and father-in-law, Catherine and Lee McMaines.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo with a visitation one hour prior.

Please accept my deepest sympathies. Greg was my cousin. I knew him when we were kids ( 1960’s ) and I would spend time with Ed, Marcy, Greg and Debby at the Texaco station / Motel during the summer in Barnsville. I have many fond memories of those times spent with them. Greg was a great guy. I’m very sorry for your loss.

I had the honor of working with Greg at Sanford, and want to express to his family my deepest condolences, and share how much Greg was loved in the workplace. Greg was truly a model employee and coworker whose ready smile, quiet competence as well as calm, kind spirit were recognized and appreciated by all. He will be missed immensely here at Sanford, and I pray God’s comfort for his family and loved ones.
Judy and family – From all of Greg’s friends and co-workers at Sanford we are still stunned and saddened by the loss of Greg. I have received so many comments the past few days on how much everyone enjoyed working with Greg. He had such a caring and friendly personality that made him both excellent at his job but also as a person. He has taught me so much over the years and will truly be missed.

Judy and Family – I was so sorry to hear of Greg’s passing; my father (Greg’s uncle George) shared the sad news earlier this week. Greg was my cousin and we hadn’t seen each other for most of our adult lives but have many fond memories from childhood. I’m so terribly sorry for your loss.

I got to know Greg over the past 17 years working at South University, he was always quick to fix my phone problems. Since we were both named Greg I would call him Mr Peterson. He had his office at the West end of the tunnel and I called it the Bat Cave and when he would respond to a call and I would pass him in the tunnel I would hum the Batman theme song as he rushed to a call. I will think of him always when I pass his office door where I know he had lots of pictures of his family on display. Missing you here Mr Peterson.
