Janice Gustafson

Janice Gustafson, 79 of Fargo North Dakota passed away Saturday April 10, 2021 after losing her battle with cancer at The Meadows Nursing Facility. Janice J. Schultz was born on May 4, 1941 to Hans and Esther Schultz of Sheldon, ND. She grew up with three siblings, brother, Virgil and sisters, Virginia and Darlene. The family moved to Fargo after the passing of their father when Jan was about 13 years old. She attended Central High School and later married Douglas Gustafson. Together Janice and her husband Douglas started Gustafson & Sons, a USPS contracting company that was in business for 40 years. Jan was a very busy person, always on the move and brought the energy wherever she was. Throughout the years some of her favorite hobbies were bowling and playing competitive pinochle with her friends, she was a competitor. She also enjoyed attending country music concerts. But she took her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, often bringing them along to share in her hobbies with her. Jan loved her family, and they were always in the right in her eyes. She was a very giving person who invested time and energy in volunteering and believed strongly in philanthropy. Most of all, she loved to laugh, and it was loud! Jan Gustafson is survived by her sons, Duane, Kurtis, Douglas Jr., Gordon; and her daughter, Lorena; and fifteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; as well as her brother, Virgil. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Gustafson; her parents, Hans and Esther Schultz; and her sisters, Virginia McMorrow and Darlene Bauske. Memorial Service: Will be held Friday, April 16th at 2:00 PM at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with a visitation one hour prior. Special thanks to Linda Esperum, Doug Jr.’s girlfriend, who was the primary caregiver of Janice for the last year. This allowed Jan to spend the last year of her life at home, which is what she wanted.
