Theresa Olmstead

February 11, 1958 - September 11, 2018

Theresa Kay Olmstead was born on February 11, 1958 in Davenport, IA to Conrad and Kathleen Andrews. Theresa passed away peacefully at her home in Fargo on September 11, 2018. After many childhood moves, the move to Fargo in 1969 would soon be her final stop and where she would call home. She attended Nativity and Shanley High School. She began her freshman year at UND in Grand Forks. She came back to Fargo to work in the emergency room at Dakota Hospital for many years. She then studied for two years at NDSU, worked as a para in the Fargo School System and worked with the ESL and refugee population in West Fargo. Her sense of humor and love for the people she worked with made her job so full-filling.

On November 24, 1984 she married Timothy Roy Olmstead. Together they raised their five daughters in Fargo, ND. Theresa will always be remembered for her humor, her kind heart, her endless ability to talk on the phone, her love for a good emoji, the love she had for her kids, the joy her grandchildren gave her, her love for her past fur babies, the endless jokes between her and Tim, the love she had for her siblings, the relationship she built with her mom and dad and the list could go on and on. She will always be remembered for being the best mom to her five daughters.

Theresa is preceded in death by her father, Conrad Andrews. Theresa is survived by her husband, Timothy Olmstead; daughters, Bobbi (Adam) Skarphol, Jenna Olmstead, Sarah (Jordan) Coles, Hannah Olmstead and Haley Olmstead; siblings, Christine Haug, Matthew Andrews, Eileen Andrews; her mother, Kathleen Andrews, Michael Andrews; grandchildren, William Skarphol, Maxwell Skarphol, Payton Coles and Hattie Coles.

A gathering will be held from 5-7 PM with a memorial service at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center.

Theresa will always be my Mama # 2. She helped shape the person I am today. Wishing I had a stillshot of every memory, but that’s nearly impossible as I practically lived there.
I think of her almost daily while interacting with my boys, especially when I’m salting their pizza rolls. 😉 She was the best! 💕

I was so saddened to hear of Theresas’ passing. The first time I met her was over 40 years ago when we worked at Walgreens. Her infectious laugh and fun personality drew me in and we had many fun times. We lost contact but whenevver we ran into each other we could talk for hours. May God wrap his loving arms around her.

So sad to hear of Theresa passing! I’m an old classmate of Theresa’s and we were good friends thru gradeschool, high school and a bit beyond but had lost touch! It sounds Like she was the same person I knew so many years ago! Kind, funny, compassionate and so many good qualities! The talking on the phone comment brought a fond memory as I remember her being one of the first to get her own phone in her room, she was the envy! And she really did like to talk on the phone! I spent much time at the Andrew’s home and they made me feel part of their family, I am saddened that you have lost this wonderful woman that’s life was much much too short! My thoughts are with you all, and Tim and I’m sure your wonderful daughters. May she Rest In Peace and May you find peace in the wonderful memories she has left with you.

I was so saddened to read about the death of Theresa. I read it in the paper too late to be able to attend the service for Theresa. I so remember her when she worked at the Kindergarten Center in Fargo. She was such a delight and loved being with kids.
Kathleen, I am so sorry that I didn’t attend the service for her. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. It is so hard to lose loved ones and losing our children is especially difficult.
May family, friends, and faith give you strength.
