Alberta Reger, 88, Fargo, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, in Elim Nursing Home, Fargo. Alberta Marie Umsted was born April 8, 1915, on a farm near Colgate, ND, the daughter of James and Anna Marie (Brundien) Umsted. She grew up on the farm near Colgate, and attended school at Colgate. She graduated from Page High School in 1932. She graduated from Valley City State College in 1934 with a teaching certificate. She then taught in rural schools in the Page area for nine years. On June 6, 1943, she was married to R.F. ?Riney? Reger in Moorhead, MN, while he was serving in World War II. After the war the couple moved to Fargo, and Riney purchased Reger Electric. Alberta worked as a substitute teacher in the Fargo Public School system and the Catholic Schools Network in Fargo. Riney died in 1985. She moved to Riverview Place in 1992, and then to Elim Nursing Home in 1997. Alberta was an active volunteer in Campfire, PTA, St. Anthony?s Church, Shanley High School, and St. John?s Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of Royal Neighbors for many years. She was known for her beautiful rose gardens and as an accomplished seamstress. She is survived by one daughter, Grace (Ron) Plath, Davenport, ND; three grandchildren, Catherine Lee, Brandon Plath and Mathew Hodgman; and a son-in-law, Frank Hodgman, Claremont, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Riney in 1985; her daughter, Rayma Hodgman in 1986; two brothers, Harry and Ray; and one sister, Fern Wright. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, with a prayer service at 7 PM.
