Alice Morehart

Alice M. Morehart, 91, Fertile, Minn., died Sunday, April 24, 2005, in Riverview Hospital, Crookston, Minn. Alice Mathilda Hagen was born Dec. 18, 1913, in Battleview, N.D., where she grew up and attended school. She worked as a domestic helper in North Dakota and Minnesota. She worked for Caledonia (N.D.) Poor Farm. On Nov. 20, 1947, she married Vernon Morehart in Lake Park, Minn., where they farmed. In 1949, they moved to Caledonia and farmed. They retired in the 1970s and moved into Caledonia in 1979. In 1996, they moved to Fertile, and he died. She entered Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile in 2004. She is survived by three sons, Harland (Pat), Rochester, Minn., Gary (Bonnie), Alexandria, Minn., Morgan (Jane), Aurora, Colo.; two daughters, Mavis (Gary) Werner, Fertile, Neomie (Ned) Nielson, Caledonia; a brother, Lawrence (Carol) Hoiby, McGregor, N.D.; a sister, Amie (Clinton) Torgerson, Powers Lake, N.D.; 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Visitation: Thursday from 5 to 9, with a prayer service at 8:30, in Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile. Funeral: Friday at 11 in Salem Lutheran Church, Cummings, N.D. Burial: Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
