Alphonse ?Al? L. Schuler, age 74, of Fargo, ND formerly of Munich, ND, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Alphonse L. Schuler the son of Werner & Marcella (Helten) Schuler was born Dec. 30, 1933 on a farm near Calio, ND., where he grew up. He attended school in Calio. Al farmed with his father until he enlisted in the United States Army. He served from 1955 until 1957 during the Korean War. After his discharge he returned to Calio where he owned and operated the Schuler Bar. Alphonse married Sharon Wirth on Sept. 24, 1957 in Munich. The couple moved to Munich in 1958, where they lived and farmed. After raising their children the couple moved to the family farm where they lived until July of 2007. They moved to Fargo and have lived here since. The couple spent many winters visiting family and friends. Al was a member of the Devils Lake Elks, the Sarles American Legion and the Devils Lake Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight. Survivors, his wife, Sharon; four children, Vicki (Wesley) Wood, Rock, Lake, ND, Alan (Cindy), Littleton, CO, Curtis (Colleen) Devils Lake, ND and Lori (William) Walsh, Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Brenda Wood and Scott Wood, Fargo, ND, Mindy (Cassidy) Campbell, Bottineau, ND, Alex Schuler, Devils Lake, ND and Krista Walsh, Charlotte, NC; two great grandchildren Ashton Brown and Wyatt Campbell; his mother, Marcella Schuler, Devils Lake, ND; two sisters, Marlys (Don) Hareland, Fargo, ND and Arlene (Bob) Adahl, Devils Lake, ND; two brothers, James (Carol) Schuler, Devils Lake, ND and Duane (Pam) Schuler, Munich, ND. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation: Wednesday 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Boulger Funeral Home and one hour before the funeral on Thursday at the Church. Prayer Service: Wednesday 7:00 p.m. in the Boulger Funeral Home. Funeral Mass: Thursday 1:30 p.m. St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo, ND.   7. Deerfield Il.I was saddened to hear of the death of Alphonse. I will always remember him as my favorite school bus driver and the times he had to drive thru snowstorms and dust storms and our goofyness on the bus.

    May God welcome him into paradise and may the memories you share be of comfort during this time of loss.
