Alton "Al" E. Goff Jr., 81, of Fargo, ND passed away on Saturday, October 26. 2019 surrounded by his family. Al was born November 5, 1937 to Alton and Ulla Goff in Valley City, North Dakota. Al grew up and attended school in California until moving to Minnesota and then to North Dakota. Following high school Al joined the Air Force. He was stationed overseas during the Korean War. Al's love for his country was known by all who spoke to him. He loved to tell stories and share his experiences. Al met his wife Janice, and they married December 3, 1977. Al was an independent truck driver until he joined Horvick Manufacturing. He enjoyed taking his wife and son, Darrin, with him on the road in his truck "Big Al". Al loved watching sports including the NDSU Bison, the Vikings and his grandson, Jeremy’s soccer games. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking and reading air and space magazines. He had many fishing stories to tell and loved talking with his grandsons about history and aerospace. Al was lucky enough to attend the Honor Flight in 2015 to Washington DC with his grandson, Nathan. Al had a special place in his heart for all who knew and loved him. Al is survived by his wife, his children, Eva Tanner, Joplin MO, Darrin (Amy) Phillips, St Michael, MN; Brenda (Wayne) Kooren, Darlene (Carl) Thomason, both of West Fargo, ND; Donald (Jodie) Goff, Walker, MN; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, his "big brother" Charlie (Diane) Moody, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, two sisters and a son. Hey Grandpa, the Bison WON!! In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations to the DAV Francis J Beaton #1 or Auxillary.
