Alvin E. Kingzett, 85, Fargo, ND, died Monday, May 9, 2005, at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo under the care of Hospice. Alvin E. Kingzett was born July 20, 1919, on a farm near Clyde, ND, to John and Garnett (Clopper) Kingzett. He attended school in Clyde, ND, and began farming with his father at an early age. Early in life, he also developed a love for baseball. He was a pitcher for his hometown baseball league and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. Alvin married Rose Marie Kleinschmidt from Langdon, ND, on June 10, 1946. They had three children: Alva Jean, Allen Dean, and Kelly Joseph. They lived near Clyde until 1950, when they moved to the farm near Sarles, ND. During 29 years of farming, Alvin and his sons ran a spraying operation for local farmers and also a farm equipment repair shop. He was recognized for 50 years of service as a Cavalier County Farm Bureau Board of Directors from 1942-1992. Alvin retired from farming in 1979 and moved to Fargo in 1980. They became members of Nativity Catholic Church. Alvin and Rose began caretaking for an apartment building, ending in 1986. Many summers were spent camping in Devils Lake. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children, grandchildren, and friends. He suffered with emphysema for many years and was diagnosed with lung cancer several years ago. Alvin received an outpouring of love and support from many family members, friends, members of Nativity Catholic Church, and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Alvin is survived by his wife, Rose; and three children: daughter, A. Jeanne (Reese) Pfeiffer of Golden Valley, MN, son, Allen (Ann) of Sarles, ND, and son, Kelly (Lorri) of Ellendale, ND. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille; and brothers, Bill and JC. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Garnett; brothers, Charles and Frank; and sister, Olive. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10, 2005, from 5-7 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Nativity Catholic Church. The funeral will be Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at 2 p.m. in Nativity Catholic Church, with visitation from 1-2 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
