Amy Grangaard Fargo, North Dakota Formerly of Kindred, North Dakota Amy died on Friday, March 5, 2004, at Bethany Homes in Fargo, at the age of 85. Amy Quinnild was born on May 31, 1918, the daughter of Ole and Anna (Smerud) Quinnild, in Comstock, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm near Walcott, North Dakota, and attended school in this area. She graduated from the Richland Consolidated High School, and then attended Moorhead State Teachers College. After graduation she taught rural school in the Walcott-Colfax-Kindred area, where she met her future husband. Amy was united in marriage to Martell Grangaard on October 20, 1944. They made their home on a farm near Kindred where they farmed for many years. Martell died on May 23, 1993, and Amy continued living on the farm until moving to West Fargo in 1994. She entered Bethany Nursing Home in June of 1998. Amy is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Charles) Evert of Battle Lake, Minnesota; Beverly (Clyde) Wolf of Esko, Minnesota; and Mary (Gene) Nerby of Riverdale, North Dakota; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and her brother, Clayton Quinnild of Fargo; and several nieces and nephews. Amy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martell; and 6 brothers and sisters.
