Amy Lechner, 85 of Fargo, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo. Amy A. Lechner was born on June 27, 1924 in Kindred, ND to Oscar & Mabel (Walberg) Fjelstad. Amy attended school at Kindred, started working at St. Luke’s Hospital in 1941 for a couple of years and from there started in retail sales at Sears Roebuck for 8 years. She married Victor Lechner on October 3, 1948. She enjoyed bowling and golfing (including making a hole in one) and was active in church. Amy is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Paul) Madson of Scottsdale, AZ & Big Cormorant Lake, MN; son, Griff (Helen) Lechner of Albuquerque, NM; grandson Jeff (Jennifer) Madson of Oregon, WI; granddaughter, Sarah Anderson of Minneapolis, MN; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Olive Andvik of Moorhead, MN, Ella (Ernie) Gronbeck of Leonard, ND, Alletta (Harlen) Smeby of Kindred, ND; brothers, Wallace (Eileen) Fjelstad of Mesa, AZ and Carl (Zita) Fjelstad of Mesa, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor; brothers, Clayton & Oscar Fjelstad and sister Judy Lynnes. Memorials are preferred to Riverview Place in Fargo or the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 3 at 2:00 pm at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 4 at 11:00 am at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan. Arrangements entrusted to Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
