Annie Ione Hektner, 87, Fargo, ND passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Eventide Nursing Home in Fargo. She was born on June 30, 1928 to McCarl and Gina (Hegseth) Syverson at the family farm near Wyndmere, ND. She grew up on the farm and attended country school. Following school, Annie moved to Fargo where she worked as a waitress downtown. Annie met Donald Hektner at a barn dance and they were united in marriage on April 28, 1951. The couple made their home on a farm in Mooreton, North Dakota where they raised their six children. In 1994, they moved to Fargo. Annie was an active member of Mooreton Lutheran Church and was very involved in the Ladies Aid. Embroidering, quilting, and gardening were some of her favorite hobbies. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. The most important part of her life was her family and she cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Annie gave the gift of laughter; she was always laughing and passed this on to her children and their families. She is survived by her children, Ken Hektner, Fort Worth, TX; Paul (Bev) Hektner, Fort Worth, TX; Gary Hektner, Rapid City, SD; Lori (Jerry) Miranowski, Fargo, ND; and Lois (Keith) Chase, Horace, ND; sisters, Inga Jordheim, Fern Foyt, Gladys Dahlsad and Marion Schreiner; 13 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and close friends, such as Lori Jean and Margaret. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; sister, Selma; son, Dennis; grandson, Jason; and great-grandson, Samuel. There will be a visitation from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service following at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Mooreton Lutheran Church in Mooreton, North Dakota with a visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Mooreton Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.

  5. To the Hektner family; My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am glad I made it to the funeral in Mooreton. It was nice to visit with many of you. sorry I did not get the chance to visit with all of you. I gave Jeanette a ride back up to Fargo on Sunday to catch a bus to Bismarck.
