Anton ?Tony? Burckhard of Fargo, ND, died Friday, January 30, 2004, at Rosewood on Broadway.
Tony was born in Devils Lake, ND, on September 20, 1911, to Felix and Regina (Kuntz) Burckhard. He attended school there and worked at Ramsey Drug until beginning a career with the railroad. He was a switchman with Great Northern Railroad there until transferring to Fargo in 1962. He retired in 1975.
Tony married Alice Thompson on June 4, 1938, in Devils Lake, ND. He loved hunting, fishing, penny ante poker, traveling, and visiting with friends and neighbors. Their home was a gathering place for coffee and conversation.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Alice; daughter: Toni (Jerome) Shermoen, International Falls, MN; son: Alan (Patricia) Burckhard, Glendale, AZ; two grandchildren: Jerrod (Beth) Shermoen, International Falls, MN, and Kristopher (Tammy) Burckhard, Mesa, AZ; two great grandchildren: Jeffrey Shermoen and Maria Shermoen; two sisters: Agatha Duffy and Veronica Boyd; numerous nieces and nephews; and special and loving neighbors: Tom and Bonnie Stevens and Jeff and Shelly Hakanson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Connie Nielson, Jack Burckhard, and Rusty Burckhard; and one grandchild: Jeffrey Alan Shermoen.

The service will be held on Tuesday, February 3, at 3:00 pm at Boulger Funeral Home with Father Hughes officiating.
