Ardelle Rosendahl

Ardelle (Ask) Rosendahl, 98, Eventide Sr. Living, Fargo, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021. Ardelle was born on December 7, 1922 to Benjamin and Marion Ask in Finley, North Dakota. She graduated from Finley High School and on April 4, 1944 married Alfred Rosendahl. They lived and raised their family in Finley, ND. Ardelle worked first at the Finley Public School as an office secretary. She later worked for the Selective Service Administration for Steele County. After Alfred passed away in 1973, she went to work as a secretary to the base commander at the Finley Air Force Base. Around 1984, Ardelle moved to Fargo to be closer to her family. She worked a few more years in Fargo at the Military Entrance Processing Center. Upon retirement, she enjoyed working part time with the Fargo Park District at the various public golf courses.
Faith, family and baking were a few things that were important to Ardelle. In Finley, she was known for the many Norwegian Christmas cookies and pastries that she shared every holiday. She was able to pass on her lefse skills to one of her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. Ardelle loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. There were many family and friends who knew her as “grandma Ardelle”. Ardelle was a member first of Finley Lutheran Church and then of Peace Lutheran Church in Fargo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, her parents, her son Bradley Rosendahl, brothers Kenneth Ask and Benjamin Ask Jr., and sister Doris Cornforth.
Ardelle is survived by her children Gary (Jeanne) Rosendahl and Arlene (Mark) Francis, her sister Bernice Peck, her grandchildren Christopher (Farrah) Rosendahl, Stephanie (Jeremy) Duensing, Angela Rosendahl, and Brenda Francis. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren.
Interment will be held at the Finley Cemetery.

Our family spent many holidays celebrating with Alfred and Ardele. RIP aunt Ardele, blessings for you in your next life. You brought much happiness to all with your amazing baked goods.
So sorry for your loss Arielle was a wonderful person with a great family she always had a smile and welcomed us when we saw her she will be missed. Our thoughts are with you.

Ardelle always greeted us with such love & a hug. So many memories of being in Alfred & Ardelle’s home in Finley. I think I remember every detail. She was a precious aunt and will miss her. ❤️
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Having spent many days of my junior high & high school years at the Rosendahl house, I knew Ardelle well. She was a wonderfully warm and friendly lady. And she made the BEST rolled sugar cookies! I’ll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
We are saddened to learn of Ardelle’s passing. She was a good friend to us during our years in Finley; a lovely lady and a great person. It’s always hard to lose a loved one even though you had her for so many years. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you as you say goodbye to her.
Auntie Ardelle always welcomed me with a big hug and a smile when I visited her home. She was a great listener probably because I did a lot of talking! (A trait I inherited from my father and her older brother Ken.) Holidays were always a special celebration at the Rosendahl home in Finley. Ardelle set a beautiful table and was a top notch cook. My personal favorites were her sugar cookies and rhubarb pie. Most of all I admired her strength to rise above difficult times and her faith in God and family. Rest In Peace dear Auntie.
Auntie Ardelle was my Godmother – I know if I ever needed any help she would have been there for me. Our family, Ardelle’s sister Bunny (my Mother) and my Father Paul, along with my brother, would drive from Seattle every summer too Finely, ND to visit her and other family members. We share many wonderful memories together. She will be deeply missed.
