Arlene Alsager

Arlene Alsager, 84, Fargo, formerly of Walcott, ND, died Thursday, February 20, 2003, in ManorCare Health Services, Fargo. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 PM in Norman Lutheran Church, rural Kindred. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 PM, with a prayer service at 5 PM in Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred. Burial will be in Gol Cemetery, rural Kindred. Arlene Stenhjem was born February 3, 1919, in Davenport, ND, the daughter of Arnold and Stella (Thoen) Stenhjem. She graduated from Davenport High School, and attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. She then worked for Kindred State Bank in Kindred for nine years. On June 1, 1952, she married Ole Alsager at Davenport. The couple farmed and ranched in the Walcott, ND, area. He died in 1977. In 1978, she moved to Fargo, where she worked for North Star Dairy as a bookkeeper. She was later a bookkeeper for the Sons of Norway in Fargo, where she was also a volunteer. She belonged to the Kindred sewing club and Gol Lutheran Church ladies aid at Kindred. She enjoyed flowers and crafts. Family was very important to her. She is survived by one son, Darryl (Jorgene), Walcott; one grandson, Joshua, Walcott; one granddaughter, Carly, Walcott; one brother, Erling (Alice) Stenhjem, Leonard; two sisters, Lillian Paige, Moorpark, CA, and Alice Gordon, Fargo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Truman. Arrangements by Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred.
