Arthur P. Zeren, 94, 610 18th Avenue South, Fargo, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2003, in his home. Arthur P. Zeren was born June 8, 1909, in New England, ND, the son of Phillip S. and Mary (Pawlitschek) Zeren. He grew up on a farm south of town. He attended St. Mary?s School in New England, and also the School of Business. After graduation he worked in construction in Marmarth, ND where he met his wife Lucille Corneil He was united in marriage to Lucille L. Corneil on November 26, 1934, in New England. The couple lived there, where Arthur held various jobs, some of which included construction, a bulk agent for The Mobile Oil Co.; The Chevrolet Dealership, and a Butcher, when he was given the nickname ?Butch?. He began his career as a field representative for Blue Cross Blue Shield, serving in that capacity for 10 years in New England. In 1967 he and his family moved to Fargo, where he served in the special groups enrollment department for the next 10 years. After his retirement from Blue Cross in 1974 he continued to be active working various accounting positions and volunteered at Nativity Church, where he took care of the grounds, planting flowers, cutting grass and trimming trees. Throughout his life Arthur lived and gained strength from his strong Catholic faith. His wife Lucille passed away May 27, 1986. He is survived by five children, Monty (Buddy) Crossfield, Oklahoma City, OK, Leon (Laura) Zeren, La Mesa, CA, Anne O?Quinn, Martinez, CA, Gary (Margaret) Zeren, Fargo, and Leigh (Steve) Alberts, Melbourne, FL; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Lloyd Zeren, New England, ND, Leo Zeren, New England, and Sylvester (Josie) Zeren, Boulder, CO; and two sisters, Sister Eleanore Zeren, Mankato, MN, and Lorraine Utter, Rapid City, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Funeral Mass for Mr. Zeren will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Church of the Nativity, Fargo. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo. Arrangements by Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
