Barb Nelson

Barb passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at her home near Davenport, ND at the age of 77.

Barbara Pearson was born on November 22, 1934, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Shaefer) Pearson in Minot, ND. She grew up in this area and graduated from Des Lacs High School.  After her schooling, Barb moved to Fargo and began working. Barb was united in marriage to Jack Nelson on October 4, 1958. They made their home on a farm near Davenport where they farmed for many years, retiring in 1983. During retirement, Barb kept very busy with many other jobs and hobbies - always willing to help in any way she could. Jack passed away on March 17, 2012.

Barb loved her life on the family farm - especially her cats.  She kept very busy tending her gardens with geraniums and other flowers, and baking for her family, neighbors and many friends. Barb was known for her exceptional pies, her sugar cookies, and many other goodies that were family favorites.

Barb is survived by her three sons, Donald (Kim) Nelson of Moorhead, MN - and their children, Austin and Ben; Larry (Maribeth) Nelson of Grand Forks, ND - and their children, Breah and Bryce; and Dennis (Vicki Thorpe) Nelson of Davenport - and children, Dalton and Payton. Also surviving are her sisters, Phyllis (Bob) Brunelle of Fargo; Marlys (Peter) Koble of Valley City, ND; Audrey (Gary) Phillips of Landsford, ND; and her brother, Douglas (Janey) Pearson of Glenburn, ND; her special aunt, Marge Frank of Minot; several nieces and nephews, and many other very dear relatives.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brother, Tom Pearson.
