Barbara Stearns

Barbara Elaine Stearns, 54, Ellendale, ND passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Prince of Peace Care Center. She was born on September 12, 1959 and was welcomed into the arms of the Gaffney family by Lucille and Donald when she was a year old. Barbie grew up in Fargo where she attended school.
In her twenties, Barbie moved to the Jamestown State Hospital where she remained until the spring of 2014.
Barbie loved music, listening to all different genres whenever she could. Doing puzzles and coloring were some of her favorite hobbies. She had a fantastic memory and always remembered everyone’s birthday. Her kind and gentle nature will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her sisters, Jennifer (Roger) Stein; Mary “Paulie” Gaffney; Cec Piper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her foster parents, Lucille and Donald Gaffney; brothers, Richard Gaffney, Patrick Gaffney, and John Gaffney; and sister, Kathy Helgeson.

Barbra Stearns was my cousin I never knew I had until today. My heart is ripped out over this. I pray she lived in a loving family and always knew she was loved. She looks like her birth Mother, my Aunt Joann.
