Bernice Foran

Bernice Foran, 85, died on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Elim Rehab & Care Center, Fargo, ND under the care of Elim and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Bernice Hackman was born on June 21, 1924 at Tappan, ND to Robert and Ella Hackman. The family moved to Adrian, ND when she was nine years old. She graduated from high school in Adrian, ND. During the war years she worked for the Twin City Ordnance Plant in St. Paul, MN and Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA. She returned to North Dakota in 1945 and worked for Northwestern Bell in Fargo. On January 21, 1950 she married Howard Foran of Lamoure, ND and they moved to Lidgerwood, ND where their six children were born. In 1968 they returned to Fargo. From 1975 until retirement, Bernice worked for the Neuropsychiatric Institute. Howard died in 1989. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Linda Sakamoto; her parents; and her brothers, Roy, Ralph, John, William, and Robert. She is survived by her daughters: Kathleen (Dan) Koper, Fargo, Nancy Reisnour (Patrick) Fergus Falls, MN, Valerie Foran, Fargo, Kimberly Peroz (James) Coon Rapids, MN; one son: Gary Foran (Katie) Vadnais Heights, MN; one son-in-law: Carl Sakamoto (and companion, Wendy) North Oaks, MN and nine grandchildren: Alex, Adam, Emily, Ella, Erin, Brian, Joshua, Belinda, and Jack. A special thank you to all of the Elim staff whom she loved so very much and to Hospice of the Red River Valley. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, ND with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. The Funeral will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo, ND with Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
