Betty Zimmel

Betty L. Zimmel, 61, Dilworth, MN, died Monday, February 19, 2007 at MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo. Betty L. Houska was born March 7, 1945 in Fosston, MN, the daughter of Cecil and Apolonia (Barten) Houska. She grew up on a farm near Mahnomen, MN and graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1964. She attended Dakota Business College in Fargo. Betty and Gerald Zimmel were married on July 24, 1965 in Beaulieu, MN, east of Mahnomen. They lived in Mahnomen for a year, then moved to Dilworth where they have lived since. She owned and operated Zimmel Upholstery out of her home for over 35 years. She is survived by her husband, Gerald; her daughter Michelle (Keith) Coalwell, Dilworth, MN; 3 sons, Dean (Michelle), Lakeville, MN, Darrell (Julie), Fargo, ND and Curt (Amy), Moorhead, MN; 10 grandchildren; 1 brother, Tom (Karen), Mahnomen, MN; two sisters, Carol (James) Geray, and Phyllis Jaeger, both Mahnomen, MN.
