Beverly T. Brkic Beverly (Thomas) Brkic, 79, passed away Friday, May 15, 2009, in MeritCare Medical Center in north Fargo. Beverly was born May 23, 1929, in Lincoln, NE. As a child, she lived in a number of places, including Georgia, Virginia, and Maryland. Beverly received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Albion College in Albion, Michigan, and earned her Master's in Library Science from Columbia University in New York City. She met her future husband, Jovan Brkic, at Columbia and they were married on September 5, 1953. Following their marriage she worked at New York Public Music Library until their move to the Midwest. After settling in Fargo in 1965, she worked at NDSU Library and was the Head of the Catolog Dept. for many years. One of her major achievements was to convert the library from a manual card catalog to an on-line system. Beverly loved her family, especially her grandchildren; music, literature, and any kind of crossword puzzle or word game. Her superior command of English language and literature enabled her to provide an appropriate quote for any occasion. Beverly was deeply interested in foreign policy and world affairs, and was an accomplished writer and editor. Survivors Beverly is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Jovan Brkic; daughters Vida Edmond (husband Tom), and Alexandra Griffin (husband Gary); sister Lauralee Humphrey (husband Dr. Richard Humphrey); grandchildren Katie Edmond, Taylor Griffin, and Evan Griffin; nephews Ned and Matt, niece Kristin, and great-niece Julianna.
