Our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Carl J. Wannemacher, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Manor Care in Fargo. Carl was born on the family homestead in Dunn County, North Dakota on January 30, 1917. He attended the local country school and elementary school in Dickinson and later graduated from the Auto Mechanics program at NDSSS in Wahpeton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1939 until his medical discharge in 1941. On June 10, 1943, he married Jacqueline Engelhart in Dickinson, ND, and they farmed one of the family farms until 1959 when they moved to Wahpeton, ND. Carl worked for Gagelin Brothers in Wahpeton until 1966 when they moved to Babbitt, MN, where he worked as a welder for Reserve Mining Company until his retirement in 1982. Jacqueline Wannemacher passed away in 1982. He retired to Perham, MN, and enjoyed his workshop and visits to his children and grandchildren at Little Pine Lake and Grand Marais, MN. Carl is survived by his children Carl, Jr. (Susan) of Fargo and James of Fergus Falls; his grandchildren, Kerri (Logan) Fabyanske, Peter, and Joseph all of Minneapolis, John, Jesse, and Jeff of Fergus Falls and Jennifer of Grand Marais, MN; and his great grandsons, Ethan and Wyatt Fabyanske of Minneapolis.
