Carlotte Christine Sandager Jostad

The daughter of Christian and Clara Sandager, she was born at Marshall, Minnesota on April 8, 1929.  She left there in 1934 and moved with her family to Alberta, Minnesota.

After her Dad passed away in 1941, she, her Mom, brother Carl, and sister Ellen moved to Dahlen, North Dakota to be near her Mom's family.  She played basketball and sang in the high school choruses.  She sang solos, in trios, and in quartets.

After her Mom passed away in 1946, she moved back to Kindred and lived with brother Ingolf and his wife Isabelle, graduating in 1947.  She went to Interstate Business College and lived with her sister Ellen.  While living with Ingolf and Isabelle, she met Mayland Jostad at an uncle's birthday party.    On October 3, 1948, they were married.  They lived on a farm north of Kindred for 37 years and moved into Kindred in 1984.  They were blessed with five children:  Robert, Elizabeth, Rebecca, William, and Bonnie.

Crossword puzzles, reading, embroidery, and word games occupied the quiet afternoons. She also enjoyed playing piano and organ.

What a special and beautiful lady Charlotte was! Edie didn’t eat at the High Rise very often but often visited with Charlotte when I did come. Ron did meals on wheels so didn’t get to visit with her at much as Edie. We both enjoyed being at her last big birthday party held at the High Rise. She will be missed. Love, Edie & Ron Braaten
