Carol Gannarelli

Carol Gannarelli Fargo, North Dakota Surrounded by her loving children, Carol passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo and is now reunited with her husband, Darrell. Carol Lavina Kerr was born on December 2, 1936 to Howard and Lavina (Senzig) Kerr in Keewatin, MN. She graduated from Robert L. Downing High School in 1953. Carol was united in marriage to Darrell Gannarelli on January 22, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Keewatin. He attended school in Hibbing, MN and Carol worked as a bookkeeper at the Hibbing Sears and Roebuck Store. They moved to Fargo, ND in 1955 and Carol provided day care in her home in addition to typing thesis papers for the students at North Dakota State Agricultural College (currently NDSU) where her husband was attending school. In 1957 Darrell and Carol moved to Middle River, MN where Carol took care of the children, and Darrell began his teaching career. They moved to Belcourt, ND in 1958 and Carol worked as a clerk at the Juntunen’s Fairway Foods. She went on to work at Herb’s Variety (eventually called Olson’s Variety), Sr. Meals Program, Golden Rule Clothing Store, and Rolette County Deputy Auditor and Deputy Registrar of Deeds. She retired in May of 1999. She moved to Fargo and enjoyed providing care for her grandchildren at every opportunity. She worked at Grahm’s Hallmark for a short time before taking a part-time position as Vision Therapist with the Agnes Vision Clinic. Health concerns forced her second retirement in 2007. Carol enjoyed golfing, curling, fishing, playing yahtze and bingo, and enjoyed her trips to the casino where she would adopt a machine for the day. She was a fabulous cook and loved sharing with her family and friends. Carol loved spending time with her family, friends, and her special times with her grandchildren. Carol is survived by her children: Bruce (Cherry) Gannarelli of Rugby, ND; Richard (Barbara) Gannarelli of Rolla, ND; Sherry (Bernie) Houdek of Grand Forks, ND; Nancy (Dana) Sand of Fargo, ND; and Michelle (Rick) Busko of Breckenridge, MN; her grandchildren: Corey and Daniel Gannarelli; Lucas, Dustin and Riley Gannarelli; Tony Houdek; Ben and Nicole Sand; Tyler and Max Glueckert; and Josh Busko; and her great grandchild: Taryn Gannarelli. She is also survived by her siblings: Kathleen Kennedy of Sauk Rapids, MN; and Nicholas (Virginia) Kerr of Silver Bay, MN; her very special Sunrise family; and many other dear friends and relatives. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; her parents; and her siblings: Mary Jane Young, Robert Kerr, Lorna Boben, and Duncan Kerr.
