Cecil Barker

Cecil Barker, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fargo surrounded by his family. Cecil Barker, formerly of Gardner, ND was born on June 20, 1926 at Grandin, North Dakota. He moved to Gardner when he was 16 and lived there most of his life. Cecil served in the Marine Corps during World War II with the 4th Division. He was stationed in the South Pacific where he served on Okinawa. After leaving the service he returned to Gardner and farmed until retiring, although he continued to help farm until 1999. Cecil married Caroline Dura on February 14, 1953 at Argusville, North Dakota. She passed away on February 7, 2001. Cecil was honored for his 60 years of service and membership in the American Legion Post 132 of Gardner. He is survived by his children, Greg (Becky) Barker, Gardner, ND, Shelley (Ken) Anderson, Grandin, ND, Brian (Sue Belgarde) Barker, Gardner, ND and Russ (Janet) Barker, Gardner, ND; 5 grandchildren; and his sister, Constance Dullum, Gardner, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers.
