Charles "Chuck" Rebsch

Charles “Chuck” L. Rebsch, 61, Fargo passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio after a brave and heroic battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
He was born October 18, 1958 in Northwood, North Dakota to Elmer and Vivian (Bahr) Rebsch. His childhood was spent on his family farm (rural Thompson, ND) celebrating faith and family. He graduated from Northwood High School in 1976. He attended NDSU before graduating from North Dakota State School of Science. He married Nadine Nelson on June 19, 1982 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hatton, North Dakota. They welcomed two daughters, Amy and Cara, and together built a beautiful family and life in Fargo, ND.
Chuck’s strong work ethic and professionalism will always be remembered. He worked for Houston Engineering for 36 years in a variety of capacities, most recently as a professional land surveyor and project manager. Chuck served in various leadership roles including president of North Dakota Society of Professional Land Surveyors and council member and president of Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo. Chuck was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and a smile to everyone.
While Chuck was an avid NDSU Bison football fan, traveling around the country with his friends cheering on his team, his priority was his family. He loved spending time with them, especially in his role as Grandpa. He had a strong faith and a love for music and had fun wherever he went. Chuck was known to be friendly, kind, gentle, confident, fun, and loyal. He will be greatly missed by his family and everyone whose lives were touched by him.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nadine, Fargo, ND; children, Amy (James) Ritchie, Oakdale, MN, Cara (Lewis) Chapdelaine, Hugo, MN; 3 grandchildren, Charlie and Albie Ritchie, and Evelyn Chapdelaine; brother, Allan (Connie) Rebsch, Grand Forks, ND; sister, Berneda (Ken) Franson, West Des Moines, IA; parents in-law, Albert and Shirley Nelson, Portland, ND; brothers in-law; David Nelson, Fargo, ND, Dana Nelson (Laura Metzen), Hatton, ND, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Leland Luwe.
Visitation: 5-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo.

Interment: St. John’s Cemetery, Hatton, ND

I am so sorry for your loss. He fought a good fight and is now at peace. I went to high school with Chuck and remember him as a very kind and gentle soul. From the posts I saw from his daughter, he has instilled a deep family love.

My deepest sympathy to Nadine and family in their great loss of Chuck. I worked for his parents, Elmer & Vivian, in the floral shop in Northwood and was there when Chuck was in high school. From the posts I have seen from his family, he loved and was loved by all his family. You will have so many good memories….keep each other and your memories close. God bless you all.

I attended college with Chuck at the North Dakota State School of Science (which it was called back then) and we graduated in 1984. I lost contact with Chuck over the years until I moved back to Bismarck in 2000. We always had a chance to catchup and have a drink or two at the annual Surveyors Conventions and Fall Seminars. We had a couple of opportunities to work together professionally in the past few years on projects.
Chuck was a credit to the Land Surveying Profession here in North Dakota. He was involved in many roles for the ND Land Surveying Society, including President. He will be missed by the land surveyors in North Dakota. We lost a true professional.
You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Chuck’s parents & my parents were friends, so I knew him growing up. I hadn’t seen him for several years & then we ended up working together at Guest Services at the Fargodome. Chuck was always positive & friendly and it was fun to reconnect. It’s obvious how much he loved his family and how much you loved him. Cherish those memories as you entrust him to his heavenly home. What a kind man he was. I remember he was always willing to help with Sunday School and other church activities.

What a beautiful service! Each speaker did a wonderful job, and I found myself nodding in agreement at all the kind words for Chuck. We worked together at HEI for 35 years and he was a joy to be around. His memory will always be treasured! My deepest condolences, Nadine and family.

Chuck was a great co-worker, friend and Bison fan. In these uncertain times, it is nice to reflect on the life of a person like such as Chuck who displayed qualities which we should all strive to emulate. His priorities including God, family and good work were spot on. We all need to remember to enjoy the journey with the ones we cherish. Goodbye for now. I am reminded of David in the old testament upon learning of the death of a loved one remarked ” I shall go to him, but he will not return to me”. RIP
