Charlotte Mae Melting, 90, Fargo, N.D., died Monday, June 22, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital with her family by her side.
Charlotte was born June 4, 1919, in Virginia, MN to Otis and Eva (Stagg) Allen. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1939.
She was united in marriage to Henry “Bud” Melting on Nov. 23, 1944, in Lakeville, MN. The couple moved to Fargo, where they raised their three daughters. In the mid-1960s, Charlotte worked at St. Luke’s Hospital. She enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards and loved to dance. Charlotte and Bud won many jitterbug contests.
Charlotte was a devoted wife and mother and supportive to her many friends. She was a devout Catholic who volunteered her time in church ministries. She was kind and generous of spirit and heart. She had an infectious laugh everyone loved.
Charlotte is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Steinweg of Hawley, MN, Charlene (Hartmut) Nendza of Powder Springs, GA and Donna (David) Hansen of Gwinner, ND; her brother, Tom Allen of Coral Springs, FL; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and sister, Beatrice.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 25 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with a rosary and prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Interment will be at Holy Cross North Cemetery.
