On March 21, 2015, Bubba married the love of his life, Shannan Utke. They had one daughter, Peyson. Bubba loved to have fun with his friends and family. He loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. One of his favorite places to go hunting and fishing with his children was the Powers Lake area. He became friends with everyone within minutes. Some of those friendships have lasted a lifetime. Many of his friends shared his passion for cheering on the NDSU Bison. He is also survived by brothers Jared and Aaron (Jody), sister-in-law Jourdann (Eric) Swenson, nieces Preslee, Riley, and Halle, nephews Jaden and Trigve, father- and mother-in-law Mike and Donna Utke, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. 18. I knew Bubba his entire life, but the time he helped me most was when he was in the hospital in Fargo and my son was hurt. Bubba came and helped both Alex and I with this injury. He made the time we spent during this tough time in our lives bearable. He was there to reassure and to hold our hands. His acts of kindness were from the heart and I will never forget him. 21. I wish I could make it to Fargo to say farewell to cousin Chris. We didn’t see each other often, but every time I did see him, it was nothing but pure joy. He was so sweet and loving, and his laugh could make anyone’s day brighter. He will be missed. Much love to his family and friends. Things like this we just cannot understand.

  22. I am deeply and truly sorry to hear of the passing of man with a true heart for service to others and love for his family, which are both evident in all that I’ve read and seen.
In the limited interactions I had with Chris, I could not have been more impressed. He treated my children with tenderness and compassion each time we visited the Devils Lake emergency room to seek care. He went out of his way to understand how to best help them and make them feel comfortable during their stay.

To Shannan, his children, his family and friends: I can only imagine how deep and painful the ache you feel now is. It is my most sincere hope that you feel all the love and support that is being sent your way now, and that you continue to feel that in the days, weeks, months, and years to come as you find your way through this enormous grief.

The world was truly a better place for having had Chris in it.

  29. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. “Bubba” was the nurse on at Sanford when we took Erik’s mom into the ER. He was so wonderful and caring. Earlier this spring I had to pay a visit to the ER at Essentia and who was my nurse, “Bubba”. How great. He will be missed by the many, many people he cared for over the years, but those that had the pleasure of working with him.

    God bless you.

    Beth Johnson

  30. Chris was a kind soul, he always had a smile on his face and could always make you laugh. My condolences to his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

  31. I am sorry for your loss. In my brief time at Sanford, I enjoyed working with Bubba. I have many good memories of working with the night crew at Sanford.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  32. Bubba was a high school and college friend of ours and our heart hurts for your family’s loss. Your family is in our heart’s and prayers during this very difficult time. He always had that smile and charisma about him and we pray that his children will carry on that character.

  33. Aren’t we blessed to have had something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
I know Bubba was a very special man and you will all miss him terribly.

  36. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I worked with Chris at Dakota Heartland from 1998 to 2001. We also played softball together. He made the world a better place. Our prayers are with your family. He was the best. He will be missed.

  37. We are so very sorry for your loss. All of our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family during this terribly difficult time.

  38. My deepest condolences goes out to everyone that was close to Chris Enget. I don’t know him but it caught my attention both his parents past away just like my parents. Also Chris and I are about the same age. Loosing both parents is hard, it creates a big burden for the rest of the loved ones. Now Chris is also gone which creates a bigger burden for others. I would like to share some words of support in this time of grief. In the good book, Psalms 55:22 says “Throw your burden on Jehovah, And he will sustain you. Never will he allow the righteous one to fall”. Wow, what comforting words from very own God. He invites everyone to throw our grief, our sadness, our problems on to him. By doing that, he will sustain us in our lowest moments in life just like the terrible feeling of losing a loved one. Please keep these words close.

  39. My heart is broken upon learning of Bubba’s passing, and goes out to his wonderful family and friends that are missing him so.
What a special guy, no one ever like him and doubt if anyone will ever come close to that star quality only he possessed.
“Bubs” was the best, this world is definitely less bright without him.

  40. My heart goes out to family and friends who knew this beautiful man. I worked with Bubba at ANW, he was a great person to be around always smiling and having fun! He will be sadly missed by many many people. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family during this sad time – cherish the memories.

  41. My sincere condolences to you and yours. Loving thoughts and prayers sent your way.
