Clanthy Fern (Evans) Wuori, 78, formerly of Rolla, North Dakota, died peacefully Saturday, December 5, at her daughter's home in Thief River Falls, MN, under the care of her daughter and son-in-law, and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Fern was born October 13, 1937, on a farm near Hannah, North Dakota, to Nels and Edna (Wiser) Evans.  She was raised on the family farm and was a very hard worker.  Fern graduated from Hannah High School in 1955 and worked in Rolla at the Jewel Plant.  She married Walter William Wuori on October 13, 1955, at the Methodist Church in Rolla.  Fern and Walter traveled around North Dakota and the region while Walter worked on road construction for six years.  Walter and Fern then moved to a farm near Hansboro, North Dakota. They built their farm there and farmed for a number of years, and Fern especially loved taking care of the animals and gardens while raising their children on the farm.  Walter and Fern owned and operated Wuori's Septic Tank Service and Wuori's Trailer Courts in Rolla for many years until they retired.  They also owned the Hansboro Bar for a short period of time, and Fern also worked at the Rolla Hospital and Hansboro Port of Entry. Walter passed away in 2001. Fern had many hobbies  and interests throughout her life, including reading, visiting and laughing with friends and family, going to rummage and auction sales, caring for plants and flowers, oil painting, sewing and crafts, playing piano, and eating out and traveling with Walter.  She enjoyed learning new things, and inspired a passion for learning in her children.  She especially loved time spent with her children and grandchildren, and she was very proud of their accomplishments, work ethic, and kindness.  Fern also helped care for her mother for many years due to poor health and was a skilled caregiver. Fern is survived by her daughter Anita and Paul Adams of Thief River Falls, MN; her daughter Cathy Edin of Staples, MN; her son Micheal and Dawn Wuori of Driscoll, ND; her daughter Misti Wuori and Tom Salzwedel of Hillsboro, ND; her brothers Gene and Toni Evans of Minot, ND, Claude Evans of Drayton, ND, and Kelsey and Judy Evans of Hankinson, ND; her sisters Marjorie Garcia of Sedona, AZ, and Dixie and Kenneth Delaney of Ft. Defiance, AZ; ten grandchildren, Mandria (Troy) Montplaisir, Moriah (Michael) Opp, Jordan (fiancé Alexis Fleener) West, Alison (Jeremy) Meyer, Matthew Edin (fiancé Laura Kelly), Katie Edin, Abby Edin, Marissa Wuori, Bryce (Brittany) Wuori, and Jayde Wuori; ten great-grandchildren, Aubriana, Bennett, Nevaeh, Kash, Tayvia, Elsie, Brekken, Bristol, Drew, and Wilson; step-grandchildren Christine (Jonathan) Hopegood, Ryan (Beth) Adams, Shawn (Jennifer) Adams, Aaron (Shelly) Adams; sister-in-law Connie Wuori and brother-in-law James Arnold; and several nieces and nephews. Those who preceded Fern in death were her parents, Edna and Nels; her husband, Walter; sister, Wanda Henderson; sister, Darlene Parisien Busch; brother, Shelley Evans; granddaughters, Anna and Jenna Edin; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Rolla Public Library or a charity of choice.  Special thanks to all of the caregivers who helped Fern in her courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Funeral Service will be held at Hillsboro United Parish UCC-UMC, 121  1st Street NW & 2nd Ave NW, Hillsboro, ND, on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Mt. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Where do I start…Fern was my aunt…there are so many memories that I could share…but the one that stands out the most was her laugh! She always knew how to make people smile by jokes, stories, pulling pranks or just simpley smiling at them. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with her the last few years because of distance. But as a child I always looked forward to the trip to Fern and Walters!
She can now be her self again and free of any illness. Which that in itself makes me smile! Rest in peace Aunt Fern…you will be missed dearly and are truly loved. Sorry I can not be there but I will be in spirit. Prayers and Hugs!
    Robin
