Clarence Discher, 86, of Davenport, ND, died Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Innovis Health, Fargo, ND. Clarence was born August 11, 1919 in Davenport, ND to Gustave and Lizzie Discher. Clarence grew up on a farm near Davenport and attended a rural school in the Maple River Township. He took over the family farm with his brother Gerhard at Age 16, after their father?s death. On October 23, 1947 he married Lucille Miller at the Canaan Moravian Church. They had 2 children, Charlotte and Darrell. The family lived together on the farm until 1980 and then moved to Davenport where Clarence and Lucille were custodians for the Davenport School. In his retirement years, Clarence was a custodian for the Davenport Community Center. Clarence was very involved in his community. He served on many advisory boards including; church, school, Cass County Drain, and the Maple River Township. Clarence was also active in the Leonard Lions Club and the Davenport Senior Citizens. His hobbies included; woodworking, playing cards, sports, making oyster stew, and attending his granddaughters? activities. For many years Clarence and Lucille made homemade ice cream for the Pioneer Days at Bonanzaville. Grandpa Clarence will be remembered for his big heart, sense of humor, and willingness to help others. His smile could light up a room and will remain in our hears forever. He is survived by his wife Lucille, Davenport, ND his son Darrell (Gail), Davenport and their daughters, Kristin ( Darren) Hoyme, Kindred, ND; Melissa Discher, Moorhead, MN; Amanda Discher, Fargo, ND; son-in-law, John (Patty) Matthews and daughters, Sari Dahl, Savage, MN; Maren (Jason) Okryznski, St. Paul, MN; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Kayla Hoyme; brother, Gerhard Discher, Davenport, ND; sister, Florence (Chester) Skarloken, Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Charlotte (Discher) Matthews, and siblings; Richard, Walter, Arnold (Shorty), and Ida. The funeral for Clarence will be Wednesday, December 21st at 2:00pm at the Canaan Moravian Church, rural Davenport, ND. The Prayer Service will be Tuesday, December 20th at 7:00pm and visitation from 4:00-7:00pm at Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred, ND and also visitation one hour before the service on Wednesday.
