Clyde Muir Hillsboro, North Dakota Clyde Muir, age 89, of Hillsboro, ND died on August 19, 2007 at the Hillsboro Nursing Home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. He was born on August 31, 1917 in Gilby, ND to George S. and Mary E (Douglas) Muir. He grew up and attended school there graduating in 1935. He attended Business College in Grand Forks, ND and was then employed as an auto parts salesman from 1937 ? 1941. In 1937 he married Verle Mahlum. They had a daughter, Marlene and a son, Richard. In 1941 the family moved to Fargo, ND where Clyde was employed as a salesman for Reinhart Brothers until 1947 when they moved to Hillsboro, ND to start a J.I. Case machinery dealership. He was in business in Hillsboro for 30 years. During that time he also had a mobile feed grinding business. In 1978 he was employed by Traill County as Director of Tax Equalization. He retired in 1988 and continued to live in Hillsboro. Clyde was a member of Our Savior?s Lutheran Church, a former city commissioner, a former volunteer fireman, and a member of the Traillsmen men?s chorus. He was a man of strong moral fiber, integrity, and an abiding love for his family. He was always a gentleman and especially proud of his Scottish heritage. Blessed be his memory. Those who survive are his wife of 70 years, Verle; daughter, Marlene (Roger) Diehl; 4 grandchildren, Robert (Kendra) Diehl of Edina, MN; Kristen (Paul) Diehl-Smith of Plymouth, MN; Susan (Pete) Larson of Shakopee, MN; and Richard (Michele) Diehl of Hillsboro; 11 great grandchildren; and his brother, James Muir of Winchester Bay, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard; brothers, Douglas, Scott, and David and sisters, Carol Muir, Beth Robson and Alice Mather. VISITATION: 5-7 PM Tuesday at Wildeman Funeral Home in Hillsboro. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM Wednesday at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. BURIAL: Riverside Cemetery in Hillsboro.
